| 113 | Davison's Nile Medal; A gilt bronze medal, the obverse with Peace standing on rocky shore holding an olive branch and an oval medallion with bust of Nelson, and legend 'Rear-Admiral Lord Nelson Of The Nile', the reverse showing Aboukir Bay and the Britsh fleet going into action against the French, and legend 'Almighty God Has Blessed His Majesty's Arms' and 'Victory Of The Nile August 1. 1798'. The medal mounted in a gilt metal circular glazed case engraved with entwined "JB" and "Swiftsure" by suspension ring, 47mm diameter. Together with an aquatint engraving by Dan Orme entitled "The Historical Engraving of that unprecedented event in Lord St. Vincents Victory, of Admiral Nelsons boarding the Two Spanish Ships,....", 16in x 22in (40.5cm x 56cm), overmounted and framed, and three other pieces of Nelson memorabilia (5) Nelson appointed Alexander Davison as prize agent for the ships captured at the Battle of the Nile and the latter had this medal struck from the profits he thus obtained.
