Paltridge including a silver Torquay & Dist. League medal inscribed 1st Division 1908-09; a 9ct gold Devon County F.A. medal inscribed 1910-11 Senior Cup Winners - Torquay Town; a 9ct gold P. D. League Winners medal inscribed 1911-12. Torquay Town; a silver Devon County F.A. medal inscribed 1911-1912 Senior Cup Runners-up - Torquay Town; and a 9ct gold D.C.F.A. medal inscribed 1920-21 Senior Cup Winner, together with a mounted team photograph of Torquay Town Association Football Club - Winners of the Devon Senior and East Devon Cups - Season 1910-11, with names of players, officials and committee. Torquay United was founded in 1898 after old boys of Torquay College and Torbay College agreed on the idea while listening to the band in Princess Gardens. The team won their first honour, the Torquay & District League title, in 1909. The team played as Torquay Town from 1910 to 1921. In 1921, Torquay Town merged with Babbacombe, acquired their current name and turned professional. The 1910-11 team photograph shows J. P. Paltridge as goalkeeper. £200-300

169 Football Memorabilia / Chesterfield Municipal F.C.; Two medals awarded to James "Jim" William Paltridge, including a 9ct gold Midland Counties Football League medal inscribed Winners 1919-20, Chesterfield Municipal F.C., and a 9ct gold and enamel Derbyshire Football Association medal inscribed Div Cup Winners 1924-25, in fitted presentation case. J. W. Paltridge was born in Plympton, Devon in 1891 and died in Sheffield in 1980. Little is known of his playing career except he played as a right half and made 29 appearances for Chesterfield F.C. in the 1921-22 season. He later played for Alfreton Town. The current Chesterfield F.C. dates from April 1919, and was formed as the Chesterfield Municipal F.C. It is the fourth club to carry the town's name. The first club folded in 1881. The second club appeared in 1884 and went into liquidation in 1915. The third club became extinct in 1917 after an F.A. enquiry banned all its players, management and its Chairman. Chesterfield Municipal F.C. was formed on 24th April 1919 and became Chesterfield F.C. in December 1920. £200-300
